Wine RacksStoring wine in Wine Racks.
Wine racks come in a wide variety of sizes, styles and materials. Some are in metal, others are made of wood. Pine, oak, redwood, mahogany, walnut, cherry, maple are some of the options. Pine wine racks are generally inexpensive. Oak, walnut, mahogany and cherry are obviously the more expensive ones. Most wine is stored horizontally in wine racks. In this way the wine stays in contact with the cork. This is necessary to keep the cork moist and prevent air from entering the bottle. Ideally it should be kept in a cellar with a temperature of 50 to 55 °F (10-12 °C). Once your wines are stored in the wine racks, they shouldn’t be moved around too much. The bottles should be left in there position until opened. The cellar should have a moderate humidity and be properly ventilated. Never store any food that is capable of fermenting in the same room as your wines.
