WineThe Ancient Art of Wine Making.
Wine making goes back thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians, Phoenicians, Romans, Greeks and Indians already had their vineyards. Later Romans and Greeks introduced the fine art of wine making to other provinces of their respective empires. Vineyards were planted in (what are now known as) France, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Britain. Some of these former Greek and Roman provinces later became the most important European and global leaders in viticulture: France, Spain and Italy are still the most important wine making centers of the world, with France still being in the number one position. Some well known viticulture regions of France are : Champagne, Burgundy, Beaujolais and Provence. Today, viticulture has gone beyond Europe’s borders and excellent wines are no produced on every continent. Popular wine regions can now be found in, for instance, Napa Vallley (California), Blackwood Valley (west Australia), Stellenbosch (South Africa), Qingxu (China) and Maharastra (India). Each of these countries and regions often also grow their own grape races.
